Now more than ever, companies are prioritizing mental health and wellbeing. Creating a workplace culture that supports all employees is a good business practice, especially given the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On March 11, 2021, EARN, in partnership with the National Industry Liaison Group (NILG) and the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), hosted a webinar with pharmaceutical company Merck on effective employer practices for mental health and wellness in the workplace. The webinar explored strategies employers can use to cultivate a culture of resilience and wellness throughout their organization. As an industry leader in disability inclusion, Merck shared successful approaches to wellness and proven business practices from the company’s Mind Well program that ha helped change the silence and stigma associated with mental health to acceptance and compassion. A representative from EARN discussed resources from the Mental Health Toolkit that highlight the four “A’s” of a mental health-friendly workplace: awareness, accommodations, assistance and access.
